Chinese and western world has a different vision about Jade. In western mineralogy and pietrology, the stones and minerals are studies on the physics and chemistry basis. It is an ancient proverb witch said: ”A noble man never let go his Jade without a good reason” and Confucius said: ” A noble man has the same characteristics as Jade has”. The Confucianism believes that a noble man must show a great tolerance to another but must be strict with himself; a noble man should not show the thing in witch he is very good yet he must keep it secret.
The Jade”s characteristics are similar with noble man so Chinese people wear and use Jade because its quality both moral and spiritual.
The Chinese classify the Jade after its finesse and resistance but not from its composition. The colors are very important only monochromatic Jade has a good rate. A noble man with a good spirit is the very essence of the Chinese moral values and every Chinese look forward to became. If the Jade had more than one color it is with no value, only pure white Jade as well as animal fat it considered to be very special. The Jade find in Hetian, from Uigur Province – Xinjiang – is so fine and dense, so resistant and so white so the ancients Chinese Emperors where very impress it. ”A noble man is comparing his morality with the characteristics of the Jade wear”. Maybe this proverb do not show us only the Jade has a high spiritual finality but it said that the noble man and the Jade are the same.
In ancient times the Jade was not collected for aesthetic reasons as it did in the modern age. The ancients Chinese thought in Deities existence, this Deities protects the peoples and the peoples were behaving in accordance with the moral codes established by the Deities for having a better life. For thanks the Deities for offering them a better live, the people start to perform commemorative services, starting from there the people began to use the Jade for showing their respect for Deities both in Haven and Earth.
Why people choose the Jade? Was because its special characteristics. Is solid, compact and impossible to erode, even when the Jade is cover with dust its characteristics are the same and after a good cleaning the Jade shows its real value.
In the Ancient China exists a lot of strictly rules regarding the utilization of the Jade. The Emperor, the ministries and the public servants wearing the Jade different. Wearing Jade is not for showing your wealth but for reminding people they must supervise their thots and actions. Of course and because the Jade where wear, the ancient Chinese attach to it a sculpture technique but tis where not very widespread, it was inappropriate to give this much importance.
In our days men make money by selling Jade or they are use it for decorations. Some of them even use Jade to show them wealth. Thru time people add Jade artificial colors and use a different technic to obtain a great profit.
The true meaning of the Jade is forgotten now and only a few people knows its real and initial use.
